Crossfire Support for AMD's FreeSync has been delayed.
When AMD launched FreeSync, many AMD users were disappointed that they could not use the FreeSync with their AMD Crossfire setups, while Nvidia users have been able to use G-Sync with SLI setups since launch. Now AMD has announced that Catalyst drivers which support FreeSync and Crossfire simultaneously will not launch within their initial time frame of 1-2 months after the FreeSync launch.
While it is disappointing that AMD have not been able to deliver Crossfire support for FreeSync as soon as expected, we cannot argue with their reasoning as they want to release their next Catalyst drivers with as few bugs as possible and deliver the best possible gaming experience to their users.
Here is what AMD had to say on their Support Forums;
"AMD fans have been outspoken about their love for the smooth gameplay of AMD FreeSync technology, and have understandably been excited about the prospect of using compatible monitors with the incredible performance of an AMD CrossFire configuration.
After vigorous QA testing, however, its now clear to us that support for AMD FreeSync monitors on a multi-GPU system is not quite ready for release.
As it is our ultimate goal to give AMD customers an ideal experience when using our products, we must announce a delay of the AMD Catalyst driver that would offer this support. We will continue to develop and test this solution in accordance with our stringent quality standards, and we will provide another update when it is ready for release."
