R9 290 and Radeon X300 On Windows, possible?

vendredi 1 mai 2015

hello, I'm sorry if this is not the right place to post this, but I am currently breaking my head over this.

I recently bought a VTX3D R9 290, which has two DVI-D connectors, whereas my older R9 270X used to have at least one DVI-I and one DVI-D connector.

Since I run two monitors, and one of them is only VGA, I remembered I had a spare radeon x300 I could use to connect my second, and possibly even a third one soon after, in the future.

Thing is, while on linux this works flawlessly and without any problem, windows simply refuses to do so.

To be more precise, I have:
  • Windows 10 10074: Error Code 31, card does not match POSTed driver or something like that
  • Windows 7: Error code 38, driver was already loaded in memory
  • Windows 8/8.1: Same thing as windows 10

If it doesn-t give any error, it just BSODs until I disable those X300 drivers, or else the r9 290's one stops working.

So, here I am, asking for any possible advice.

PS: My Motherboard is an ASUS M5A97 EVO R2.0, and the CPU is overclocked to 5.1 GHz
