Samsung 850 EVO SSD firmware (to brick or not to brick?)

I'm sure many of you know that a few months back Samsung had released a firmware for the 850 Evo that bricked the SSD...

so my question is.. having bought a new 850 evo today, and about to install it in a few minutes, should I upgrade to the new firmware (has samsung rectified the issue?) or should I stay away from it?

any help would be greatly appreciated!
