I have had 2 x 980 in SLI for a few months now and I have noticed that I am not getting the performance others get on certain games at high (>1080p) resolutions.
I can obvioulsy run any game maxed settings at 1080p perfectly fine, but when I enable 2X-4X DSR I get lower fps than others and quite a lot of stuttering.
Games I've noticed this with the most are:
Alien Isolution - see people on youtube playing this perfectly at 4K DSR, for me its not really playable, a lot of stutter and just not smooth at all
COD AW - i get stutter even on 2X DSR with this game (even with AA turned off).
Shadow of Mordor - the built in benchmark for this game gives me 70 fps on 4K resolution but when actually playing it stutters and fps drops a lot.
I dont think ive been able to run any game at 4K smoothly.
I have tried researching on google and can't really see many others reporting this issue. Does anyone know anything I can try or has anyone experienced anything similar? What would be the main reason for stuttering like this at higher resolutions?
My set-up:
Most up to date nVidia drivers
Intel® Six Core i7-3930K
980 GTX SLI standard clocks
16GB DDR3 RAM
120GB KINGSTON HYPERX 3K SSD
