Hand of Fate

mercredi 18 février 2015

Just picked this up on steam.

It's basically a choose your own adventure/roguelike (not sure if it is permadeath yet)/card game. You play against a DM type character who has a deck of cards, you also have a deck of cards. There is also a path of cards on the table.

You have health, equipment, and food. Each step you tale on the path of cards, means you consume one food. It also will flip the card up displaying something random. This could be one of several things: an item shop, a trap, a non combat encounter, or a combat encounter.

If it is an combat encounter, the dealer will draw a card from his enemy pile. You then enter an arena where you fight the chosen enemies. Combat is essentially hack and slash best played with a gamepad.

If you win, you get a reward from the DM guy's reward stack. Could be food, gold or equipment.

Traps are basically obstacle course with a treasure at the end.

Random encounters are either good or bad and usually involve some kind of choice.

As you move along the card path one of the cards will be a boss, if you beat him you unlock new cards fro you and the DM.

You then start all over this time moving to the next boss. You also have a choice prior to starting to customize your deck.

It's actually pretty cool, so far it is really easy (i have only beat two bosses), but if the difficulty ramps up this could be a cool time killer.

There is also a story mode and an endless mode.

Video of my play through of the first two bosses here. I am chewing Nicorette gum, not talking very loud (my family is asleep), and listening to some crappy music. I also play slowly because I suck at a controller and i read everything.

Not the most exciting thing to watch ha! Fun to play though.
