Help modding USB hub

I have a tablet that is powered via its only MicroUSB port, in order to use a K&M I have to use an adapter from the same port connected to a hub, which obviously stops me from charging it at the same time

I'm looking for a way to mod the USB hub or the adapter, so I can have it charging and using the hub simultaneously

It charges using a normal 5v MicroUSB adapter

I'm guessing it's not as simple as wiring up the +5v/GND from the power brick to the appropriate connectors in the hub?
