RAM not working with X.M.P Profile 1#

dimanche 22 mars 2015

Good day everyone

Well, I recently upgraded my RAM from 8GB to 16GB (this is the RAM I have installed currently:

Beast - 8GB Kit* (2x4GB) - DDR3 2400MHz CL11 Intel XMP DIMM (2X )

Part Number: HX324C11T3K2/8

Specs: DDR3, 2400MHz, CL11, 1.65V, Unbuffered, Spec Sheet PDF

Timings: 2400MHz, 11-13-14, 1.65V; 2133MHz, 11-13-13, 1.6V

As you can see I have 2x4 kits installed in my rig, so 2x 2x4.

I previously had my 8GB Ram on the X.M.P Profile 1# so that all worked fine, ofcourse I disabled the profile before I installed the new kit to prevent any issues.

After I've done that and installed the new RAM kit, I decided to turn on the X.M.P Profile 1# again (which is the 2400MHz timing and CL's/V u see above) and it worked all fine, but after a hour my Windows started to crash on every bootup I did or when I was playing a game (CS:GO) my game would crash every minute it was started up.

First I thought, huh? How could this happen, because it all worked fine when I just had 8GB RAM instead of 16GB, but then I've looked it up a bit and I saw that there were problems with 2x 2x4 kits using 2400MHz because of lack of support or something like that.

These are the things I tried to do for fixing it:

  • Disabling the X.M.P Profile and enabling the timings/V/latency's manually by hand: Didn't work.

  • Disabling the X.M.P Profile and trying to see if it was caused by my CPU but no, that wasn't the cause either.

  • I tried to change my Volts but that didn't work either.

I'm not really sure how to configure the CVRR's (the other Latency's on the bottom, etcetera) and all that stuff, so maybe that's the problem with the crashings and such? (Maybe my Watts of my PSU is not enough to maintain the 2400MHz and the volts of the RAM('s)?

Now the 2133MHz X.M.P Profile 2# works perfect without issues, so I'm not sure if it's the cooling or if it's just a bug or maybe my X.M.P detects the latency's wrong and that's what's making it crash? Because I get those blue screens: SQL_not_less_or_equal.

I've tried reinstalling Windows but that didn't help either, I also updated my BIOS of my Z97-A Asus MoBo but that also didn't work.

So now my question is, is there any way I can try to help it maintain on 2400MHz without getting those crashes everytime? Because sometimes it does work and other times it doesn't.

For those who want to know, my CPU is on 4.3GHz now with the BOX-cooler (it runs on 40-60C° Degrees so I don't see why there is a problem)

My Motherboard is always cool (20-30C°) and I suppose that the RAM modules are cool aswell because they get tested beforehand..?

If you want to know anything more, feel free to ask me so I can provide you the information you want so that you can help me easier.

Thanks for reading and I hope this'll issue gets solved soon. :)
