I've searched the forum and am completely confused on which modified drivers I should go for. I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction for drivers or maybe a way to modify the drivers I need myself.
I'm on a Lenovo u400 which uses switchable graphics. The proper card is a Radeon HD 7400M series, but since this is a Lenovo I can't use the normal Catalyst drivers from AMD. Instead I'm supposed to use the ones released by Lenovo... who haven't updated them since 2011 shortly before I bought the computer. :cussing:
The GPU should be good enough to run GTA V at low settings, and it started the first time without issue, but in resetting it with altered settings a couple times the game has decided to crash just after the launcher, and everything online points to using the new beta drivers to fix this, which I can't install.
Also, as a side question:
I know there's no guarantee modified drivers will fix this, and may make other games stop working, forcing me to revert. Is there a way to revert my drivers without a restore point (which doesn't work) or a fresh reinstall of the old drivers?
I ask because the old ones from Lenovo don't come with a working Catalyst Control Center, and this causes some games to be unable to take advantage of the switchable graphics on their own. In previous attempts to update I somehow managed to get a working CCC with the old drivers by installing newer and old drivers on top of eachother (I know that's not recomended, but it's worked without issue until GTA V). :giggle2:
Thank you for spending the time to read/comment on this. :)
