That may sound almost unheard of. To me anyway because every time I replaced my old ATI cards in the past the new card was made years after the old one. So I had no choice but to remove the old Cat driver and update with the new Cat.
But the 290 came out about six months after my current PC with the 7950, specs listed below. So it looks like the 290 may have been under development partly using Cat 13.1. So what do you guys think? Ok to not remove any drivers, just leave in the Cat 13.1 as is and swap my old card with the 290? Games I play are Skyrim (modded), Watch Dogs, GTA V, Witcher 2, Tomb Raider 2013, and Far Cry 4.
The 290 arrives from Amazon tomorrow Monday. Btw after checking around the 650W power supply should be enough for a 290 (not a 290X) considering the brand apparently is a decent one. I posted this on another website forum for AMD ATI cards (Rage3D) but they don't get nearly as many posts as they used to so I'm trying here as well.
