is the i7 4770 worth it?

i am buying a new cpu+motherboard this weekend and while i planned to get a i5, was told the i7 would last me longer and its $50 more than the i5 i wanted to get.

also hearing the Xeon is a great chip too at half the price.

is the i7 4770 worth it?
