Help Finding Information

So I'm getting tired of my day to day job doing what appears to be meaningless work as a Control Engineer and need some help. Since I started college I've had a soft spot for children with disabilities (please don't flame, I'm being serious). I feel as if I couldn't be any happier with myself at the end of the day using my skills to help develop something to improve the lives of those children that need it. Can anyone help find a job that fits this description that can be applied for? They say the American dream is still alive and well...I'm ready for my piece.

Edit: BS in Electrical Engineering...ample experience.
