Catalyst Beta 15.4 and Afterburner 4.1.0 not getting along?

mardi 21 avril 2015

It seems, at least on my system, (r9 290, 4790k, 16GB ram, Gigabyte Z97X-SLI) that the new beta driver from AMD is reacting poorly to MSI Afterburner. Ever since I installed it a week ago, I've noticed a marked decrease in performance with Afterburner installed. A lot of stuttering and very low fps. As soon as I uninstall and reboot, I get expected performance. (Problem is, Catalyst's fan control is abysmal. I need Afterburner's fan curves!)

This seems like an odd problem, since for the first couple days (April 14th and 15th), I had no issues with the beta driver and Afterburner. GTA V seemed to run perfectly fine until about Friday, when the ONLY thing that changed on my system was an update to the game.

Since then, I've uninstalled and reinstalled Afterburner at least 10 times, and every time I restart after an uninstall, performance shoots back to normal. If I install afterburner then, and do not restart, performance remains normal. It seems like something strange is going on where when the system boots up with Afterburner installed and running, performance is greatly reduced.

Is this happening to anyone else using the Beta (15.4) Catalyst drivers? Please tell me I'm not crazy! This is the first time I've had this issue, and I've been using Afterburner with AMD cards since the 5870 days. :O
