[Not April Fools] Square Enix Releases The Original Tomb Raider On Android For Just $0.99

It has been nearly 20 years since Lara Croft had her first adventure in the original Tomb Raider. The graphics (and boob physics) have improved over the years, but now you can relive the original in all its polygonal glory on Android for just $0.99. I checked, and it's not a joke.

Tomb Raider is a 3D adventure game with a lot of platforming and puzzles to solve. The controls seem a little archaic by today's standards, but it's still a serviceable experience. It doesn't use a dual-stick system like most games do these days. Instead, there's a d-pad and an array of buttons for strafing, jumping, and so on. The on-screen layout is somewhat cluttered, but there's controller support built-in.

This version of the game includes all the content from the original 1996 release, plus the two additional chapters that were included in the 1998 re-release. The graphics are rough, but you have to remember this is from the early days of 3D games. It was amazing in its day. Maybe it's worth another look, if only for nostalgia's sake.
