Hello All,
I began trying to install GTAV last Tuesday on release. I bought physical copy, nice 7 disc set. After literally 4 hours of transferring the discs to my SSD. Then had to download 5GB patch at like 30-220KBs (coz OZ net.)
Then I installed AMD!!! Drivers 15.5 or whatever with the GTAV profile, it suggests i restart computer for the program to take effect properly.
I press Restart....
This is where my troubles begin.
Windows was then unable to boot, unable to find Boot/rec, unable to boot into it at all cannot see it when trying to repair windows using disc, also tried to rebuild from CD aswell, did not work at all.
I then got my laptop HDD out and used that in my 2.5inch USB 3 dock, backed up all the crap i could see on my SSD and reinstalled windows.
Was then unable to install AMD DRIVERS using the latest ones from the site, after a night i realised the auto driver detection crap is needed to recognise the 290 i have. Fun **** that it isnt inclused in eachincrement of the driver!
Anyway, i have installed the drivers and now am installing the 5GB patch again to see if i can get it working. Copying the directory i had did not work for some reason, only SP would.
Anyway i want to switch to NVIDIA again, but moving from a 290, the 4GB if RAM is a bit of a side step as i run 3 displays in triscreen for a lot of my gaming or on my 50" TV at 2560x1440 (when drivers allow) Games in the next 18 months will starts to use more VRAM...
I can either buy a titan x, or should I use SLI 980? keep in mind SLI profile works with GTA which is what i mainly will use this for in the coming months.... i am sick of the SLI when it works reason being used as i KNOW it works with GTA and other games i commonly play. I have used both CFX and SLI before, SLI had no issues while CFX was easier to set up in the drivers but still more fiddley in other ways.
So 2x980 or 1x Titan X?
