ok, i will start from just saying i have been into computers as a hobby then work and have been building and benchmarking system builds for over 20 years, many different configs as you could well imagine. (just so you know i have some PC back ground)
with all the drama concerning the the GTX970 Vram and spec's and me buying 2 of them kind of started my concern and testing the GTX970, purely Because some people say's it does not happen or they don't have the same issues.
please take note i am NOT trying to prove or disprove anyone right or wrong here.
we can class this test as an test to see the Limitation of the GTX970 hardware config rather than a fault or our own personal expectations (due to a lot of hype)
because of the hardware im using (the GTX970), its designed to work this way from the start, i will have to look at this as an hardware limitation, for my testing.
Please try and refrain your selfs from trolling or just trying to belittle me.
i would like anyone else who has FarCry3 to help in this test and report back your findings you dont have to have an GTX970 for this test as this test is testing FarCry3 at Max Vram load and how your GFX card reacts to this game once it has you gfx cards Vram loaded to near its max.
all you need is latest version of FaCry3 and a little of your time and your expert opinion.
run your monitoring software first to record Vram load and GPU usage
goto game settings and set the game setting to use as much vram as you can.
you will have to run your testing in DSR mode for Nvidia gfx card/s or if your using AMD card/s VSR to get the highest Poss Vram Load.
the test start point to try and keep things simple and fair the best place i have found to start and and conduct the test :
Start at AMANAKI TOWN, leave the town and head to get into the car and go for a drive try and keep playing for at least 1 min or so, going from village then a little drive then bak to village.
and thats all you have to do for this test.
just report back your findings and opinion, it would be handy if you could also post pick of your gpu and Vram usage to.
at some point i will up date this thread with Screen shoots and Videos
oh just add yea i know my gramer is poor so no need to slate me for it lol :)
oh like to add when the massive lag and stutter happens i have noticed that there is NO HDD activity so its not down to HDD caching as far as i can make out.
this happens on the GTX970 and the GTX760 once vram gets over 3.5gig vram for the 970 and 1.5/6 ish gig for the 760.
