Question on Bass Management

Is it true that on 5.1 analog systems Bass Management or LFE is supposed to be handled by the soundcard? I ask this as I've read that Edifier s760D doesn't forward LFE sounds to the subwoofer in analog mode, only the digital mode and stereo mode this.
