Hello all. I've got a question on PC gaming and audio receivers.
Receiver is a Yamaha RX-V377-R and GPU is a GTX 980.
I currently have a 3.0 setup (front left and right channel and a center channel). From my graphics card I connect my computer to my receiver via an HDMI cable. This works great for all my needs and allows my receiver to output proper surround sound (DTS, DD, etc.) to my speakers. Kodi (formerly XBMC) and any other video/audio players output surround decoding perfectly.
When it comes to games, I'm a little confused. Most games don't have pass through option but generally have selections like Stereo, Headphones, Surround, 5.1, 7.1 and Pro Logic.
I'm confused on (generally) which audio option in game is going to output proper HD audio. Technically my set up isn't "surround" since I don't have satellite speakers but it's not stereo (2.0) either, as I have a center channel (3.1). I figured Pro Logic would be the proper selection but when I do so, I only get audio out of my two stereo speakers and not the center channel (usually reserved solely for dialogue).
This is currently happening in my current replay of BioShock but it's generally the case with almost all PC games I play.
Just to confirm, I have my speakers properly configued via both the audio receiver and the Audio Devices setup in Windows.
Thanks for any help or tips you can offer!
