Long story short I don't know what I'm doing wrong in Afterburner but any small OC to the memory and I get artifacts (as low as +230). But in Gigabyte's own OC Guru 2 tool I haven't even found the maximum of the memory yet.
I can't just use the OC Guru 2 tool - the OSD in that won't work, right now I have Afterburner's OSD running with voltage options disabled in it along with its custom fan control profile set up (Gigabyte's sucks).
Is there some specific setting I need for Gigabyte cards in Afterburner or is the 970 G1 just incompatible?
