CCC and color output issue

mercredi 18 février 2015

Hello all, this is an issue I have had for some time, and something that i'm not sure I fully understand. I will attempt to explain the problem to the best of my ability.

I have an HD6970 running 3 (cheap) TVs

The outputs are as follows:

Monitor 1 - Dvi to VGA

Monitor 2 - MiniDP to VGA

Monitor 3 - Dvi to HDMI (important to note that this TV has no VGA input)

Monitor 3 has some serious color issues, the colors just simply don't match and look blotchy and washed out. No level of adjustment has gotten me close.

I have derived from my research that my card is outputting 4:2:2 color to the 3rd television, which is incapable of displaying it, and as a result does some crappy sub-sampling to 2:2:2 and gives me a poor picture.

It seems like a simple fix, however it appears that CCC detects that I am using a DVI connection and defaults output to 4:2:2, the most infuriating part to me is that it completely removes the option to set it to 2:2:2.

I am at the end of my rope with this one, the only two solutions I can think of are to:

A: Figure out how to change the EDID to spoof the connection (if this is even possible)

or B: Possibly change the connection method to miniDP to HDMI and hope that CCC doesn't do the same thing.

Does anybody have any experience with this? I would really like to just be able to change the output format and cannot for the life of me figure out why CCC would think it is a good idea to remove the option for color output.

Any help is much appreciated!
